Uttam Barua
Lecturer in Economics
Uttam Barua, born on January 3, 1984, in Betagi, Chattogram, Bangladesh, comes from a family with a rich legacy in promoting Buddhist culture and social welfare. His ancestors contributed significantly to the community by donating land for the Betagi Sharbojanin Dharmanando Bihar monastery and establishing the Buddhist Footsteps Temple in 1918.
Academically, Barua holds a BSS and MSS in Economics from Premier University, Chittagong, and completed his Ph.D. in Economics at Chandigarh University, India, under the Indo-US Global Research Fellowship. His doctoral research focused on the impact of monetary policy on poverty and economic growth, emphasizing sustainable development goals (SDGs).
Barua specializes in secondary data analysis and is proficient in tools like Eviews, SPSS, Jamovi, Mendeley, and Smart PLS. His research interests lie in monetary policy, economic development, and reducing inequalities. Driven by a passion for social justice and sustainable development, Barua sees his academic journey as a continuous process of learning and contribution to economic policies that foster inclusive growth and equity.
